Five Mouth Healthy Delicious Snacks

Every food is different. Some are good for us, and some can be harmful to your teeth. A few snacks mentioned below are not only delicious and easy to whip up, but healthy for your mouth as well.

1. Apple cinnamon oatmeal

Apples are crunchy and naturally clean your teeth as they contain high fiber. They help in fighting the buildup of plaque, also removing surface stains from teeth. In this way, by removing traces of plaque and residue from the back of the tongue, they also help fight bad breath.

Cinnamon has a natural plant oil in them, which is called cinnamic aldehyde. It can destroy bacteria in your mouth. If combined with apples, cinnamon could fight harmful oral bacteria to another level.

Whole grains like oats, barley, bran, and brown rice have got a higher quality of periodontal health and also help in the betterment of your oral health by improving the ability of the body to process blood sugar. So, it is recommended to load them all on to oats. 

2. Carrots and celery snack pack

Celery is considered as the toothbrush in nature, as it scraps food items and bacteria away from your teeth. It is also rich in vitamins A and C, which can improve the health of gums. Carrots being crunchy, just like apples, are also full of fiber with a great source of vitamin A. If you eat a raw carrot after a meal, then it can help in increasing the production of saliva in your mouth, which reduces the risk of cavities. 

3. Yogurt parfait

Studies conducted have proven that yogurt decreases the concentration of Hydrogen Sulfide, which is the chemical linked with bad breath. It also helps in reducing plaque and gingivitis. 

4. Green garden salad

Leafy greens like kale and spinach also help in promoting oral health. These green leaves have high levels of calcium that build the enamel of the teeth, which makes them strong. They provide several benefits to our health like maintaining or producing new cells, as they contain folic acid, which is a type of Vitamin B.

5. Trail mix with almonds, raisins, and dried fruit

Crunchy almonds contain a high amount of calcium and also have the property of lowering blood sugar by increasing the production of saliva. While raisins consist of powerful phytochemicals which help in fighting the bacteria causing gum disease and cavities. Dried fruits, like cranberries or dried plums, also share similar properties. You should put all of them together and mix them to make a healthy snack.
